Gregg Berhalter: ‘I think for any player it’s an exciting game.’

Whether you are a player or a supporter, expect no shortage of excitement on Decision Day, presented by AT&T.

“I think for any player it’s an exciting game,” said Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter.

“Your outcome is directly affected by the game and you can affect that. For any player it’s going to be a great experience, that’s what I’ve talked to the team about, that this is a game you will remember your whole careers. And for experienced players, the guys who have been through it before, they know what it’s about.”

As the seven-month-long season coalesces into its pinnacle on Sunday, midfielder Wil Trapp spoke on the importance of Crew SC’s collective drive and unity.

“I think the paramount thing for us is understanding that everybody has to be trying to be the best teammate they can,” Trapp said. “Coming together as a group collectively to push one another, to push forward in terms of trying to win a game and knowing that no matter what your role is, it’s important big or small.”

Simultaneously, there is a balance between knowing the importance of the moment and maintaining a sense of consistency regarding preparation.

“I think at this point in the year, like the last two months, every game was the most important,” said midfielder Artur, who helped lead Columbus to the Eastern Conference Championships in 2017 as part of his first year with the Club.

“We keep it the same way because we know what we want to get and we have to give our best on the field.”

A Crew SC win against Minnesota or a Montreal loss OR draw at New England will see the Black & Gold into the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs. Kickoff is slated for Sunday, Oct. 28, at 4:30 p.m. ET at MAPFRE Stadium.
