Columbus Crew SC midfielder Federico Higuaín has been nominated for Futbol MLS' Latino of the Year award alongside 15 other players from Major League Soccer, who were chosen by the editorial group of FutbolMLS.com and UnivisionDeportes.com based on the prominence and performances during the 2018 season.
Voting will be done exclusively on Twitter. The 16 players, placed in 4 groups of four, will be narrowed down to the top eight, then the final four, before a final winner is eventually announced.
Including the postseason, Higuaín totaled eight goals and 10 assists in 2018, highlighted by a road brace at D.C. United in the Knockout Round of the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs on Nov. 1.
Notably, on March 24 against D.C. United, Higuaín became the first player in Club history to earn 50 career regular-season goals and 50 career regular-season assists with a two-assist performance as part of Crew SC's 3-1 win at MAPFRE Stadium.
