Columbus Crew SC Academy’s U19 team is helping raise awareness about youth homelessness and at-risk youth through Huckleberry House, a local social services organization. The U19’s created cardboard signs with facts about homelessness ahead of Huck House’s recent SLEEP OUT event, and also volunteered their time to help with event needs. SLEEP OUT is designed to raise awareness and funds for homeless youth in the community by encouraging participants to spend a night sleeping outside like many troubled young people are often forced to do. Crew SC’s Academy General Manager Dennis Sanchez said, “Crew SC Academy firmly believes in volunteering and being stewards within our community. Through our partnership with Huckleberry House, our players have the opportunity to help others and gain more perspective outside of their everyday environment. These experiences help them prepare for life and become their best self.” The fundraising page for Crew SC Academy’s donation to SLEEP OUT is live until June 15, 2018.
