Columbus Crew SC forward Kei Kamara spoke to students Thursday night who are part of the Future Possibilities program about the importance of setting goals and hard work.
Kei told students about his journey immigrating from his native Sierra Leone to the United States and how setting goals and working hard to achieve those goals both on and off the field helped him pursue his dream of playing professional soccer.
After Kei spoke, he assisted in giving each participant a trophy for completing the program. He also took pictures and signed autographs once the event was over.
Future Possibilities, Inc. was founded in 1994 in New York City and is currently headquartered in Columbus. Each participant of the program works with their KidCoach from the end of October to the beginning of March on creating and implementing a goal. More than 30 students ages 10-14 from various Columbus City schools completed the goal setting program this year and since the program was founded more than 2,500 children from both New York City and the inner city of Columbus have graduated from the program.
This event was part of Crew SC’s, “Give Forward” initiative which is sponsored by MAPFRE Insurance.
