PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2016 (Columbus): Ashe made 18 appearances (14 starts) at leftback in his first season with the Black & Gold and added three assists. He made his first Crew SC start and appearance with a nod against Montreal (May 7) and registered an assist in the contest. He surpassed the 15,000 minutes played milestone for his MLS career in a start against Colorado (May 14). He recorded his second assist of the season in a start vs. Real Salt Lake (May 28). He started and helped Crew SC earn a shutout vs. Montreal (June 18). Ashe made a substitute appearance and notched his third assist on the season at Chicago (October 13). He made one appearance in the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, coming on as a substitute in the 4-0 win over Tampa Bay (June 15).

2015 (Orlando, Houston): Ashe began the season, his ninth as a professional, with Houston, but was traded to Orlando City SC on July 14, 2015 in exchange for allocation money and a Second Round selection in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Prior to the trade, he made no appearances for Houston. With the Lions, Ashe appeared in nine games (eight starts), notching three assists.

2014 (Houston): Ashe appeared in at least 20 Major League Soccer regular season matches for the eighth straight season, making 21 appearances (20 starts) for the Dynamo. He registered three assists over the campaign.

2013 (Houston): Ashe continued as a mainstay in the Dynamo lineup, making 30 appearances (29 starts) while recording two assists. He clinched playoff qualification with the Dynamo for the sixth time in his seven professional seasons, making an additional four postseason appearances with his first-ever MLS Cup Playoffs assist. He was named an MLS All-Star for the second time, starting and playing 66 minutes against AS Roma. He made appearances in both the Knockout Stage of the 2012-2013 CONCACAF Champions League as well as in the Group Stage of the 2013-2014 edition of that tournament.

2012 (Houston): The defender helped Houston repeat as MLS Cup finalists in 2012 by making 30 appearances (all starts) in the regular season, notching two assists. In the postseason, Ashe started a single-season playoff-high six contests as the Dynamo won the Eastern Conference for the second year in a row. In the 2012-2013 CONCACAF Champions League, Ashe made one appearance, a start against Olimpia, as Houston advanced to the Knockout Stage.

2011 (Houston): The former University of North Carolina player made the jump to become a regular starter for Houston, making a career-best 30 starts in 2011. He helped the Dynamo return to the MLS Cup Playoffs, making four appearances (four starts) in the postseason for the eventual Eastern Conference Champions. He was named an MLS All-Star for the first time and he played 29 minutes in the 2011 MLS All-Star Game against Manchester United. He made one appearance in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

2010 (Houston): Ashe made 27 appearances (19 starts) for Houston, matching his then-career best in appearances from the season before. He recorded three assists over the campaign and notched double digits in shots for the third time in four professional seasons. He appeared in four games in the 2010 SuperLiga for Houston as the club reached the quarterfinals of the last-ever edition of that tournament.

2009 (Houston): Appeared in a then-career high 27 games and 13 starts for Houston, notching three assists on the campaign. He helped Houston qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the fourth straight season, making two postseason appearances. He came on as a halftime substitute in the Second Leg of Houston’s 2008-2009 CONCACAF Champions League Knockout Round series against Atlante, and later made four appearances in the Group Stage of the 2009-2010 edition of the competition. In the 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, he helped Houston reach the Semifinals, making three appearances in the tournament.

2008 (Houston): Ashe appeared in 22 games for the Dynamo for the second consecutive season, making eight starts. He scored his first professional goal on May 28, 2008 at FC Dallas. In 2008, he made his first-ever MLS postseason appearance with 45 minutes against New York on November 9, 2008. He also made several appearances in outside competitions, including six starts in the 2008-2009 CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage and five appearances (two) starts in that season’s SuperLiga. He also made a start in the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Charleston for the second consecutive season.

2007 (Houston): Ashe began his professional career with the Dynamo after being drafted by Houston in the Second Round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft (26th overall). That season, he made his professional debut for the club, appearing in 22 games (six starts) and notching four assists for the eventual MLS Cup champions. His first professional assist came as a game-winner on Joseph Ngwenya’s goal on June 3, 2007. He also made one appearance in the 2007 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, a start at Charleston.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Ashe attended the University of North Carolina, where he recorded 22 goals over a four-year career. He led the Tar Heels with nine goals as a sophomore in 2004. In 2003, he finished second-team all-ACC and was named to the ACC All-Freshman team.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

At the senior level, Ashe has earned call-ups to the United States National Team on two occassions, for friendlies against Belgium and Germany in 2013 (where he had to withdraw due to injury) and as a member of the 23-man squad for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The defender has made appearances for the United States at the youth level, most recently for the U-23 national team at the Toulon Tournament in 2008. He also represented the U.S. U-17s in the 2003 U-17 World Championship.

Ashe is married with an infant daughter. His favorite soccer memory is making the United States National Team roster for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. If not playing soccer, Ashe would like to be a strength and conditioning coach. Away from the game, he likes spending time with family and friends. His favorite athlete is Michael Jordan, and growing up, he was a fan of D.C. United. He is a fan of  Will Ferrell movies such as “Anchorman” and “Old School" as well as reality television.
