NEWS & NOTES

REVS AVOID RAIN-OUT & PRESERVE SHUTOUT
The Revs dealt with driving rain, wind and a 30-minute lightning delay to earn a 2-0 win over the Charlotte Eagles on Saturday in Charlotte Zack Schilawski scored the game-winner in the 21st minute on an assist from Shalrie Joseph Kenny Mansally tallied in the 73rd minute with help from Kheli Dube and Nico Colaluca goalkeeper Preston Burpo made a sprawling save on a looping header in the 90th minute for the clean sheet the Revs improved to 2-1 on the preseason in the victory.

PRESEASON SCORING LEADERS
Rookie first-round draft-pick Zack Schilawski leads the Revolution with two goals and one assist in three games Kenny Mansally has tallied two goals, while Shalrie Joseph has netted one goal and two assists, both seeing time in three games Sainey Nyassi and Kheli Dube each have one goal and one assist and Emmanuel Osei has scored one goal and Nico Colaluca has one assist

PARTNERSHIP WITH COMCAST SPORTSNET ANNOUNCED
The New England Revolution and Comcast SportsNet announced that the regional sports network will be the team’s exclusive television partner in New England in 2010 all Comcast SportsNet telecasts will be delivered in high definition beginning April 3 when the Revolution travel to face D.C. United in Washington, D.C. veteran soccer broadcaster Brad Feldman is back in the booth for his 10th season and will be joined by recently-retired, 11-year MLS veteran Jay Heaps as color analyst Heaps spent nine seasons with the Revolution and holds several club records Kraft Sports Group will again produce every regionally-televised Revolution match.

SINOVIC & BOGGS SIGNED TO DEVELOPMENTAL CONTRACTS

Revolution rookies Seth Sinovic and Zak Boggs have signed MLS developmental contracts to play for the Revs Sinovic (25th overall) and Boggs (31st overall) were selected by the Revolution in the second round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft with this move, the Revs have filled the final two developmental roster spots, leaving one open spot on the senior roster.

A BIT ABOUT SINOVIC ...
Sinovic, 23, grew up in Leawood, Kan. and was drafted out of Creighton University the attack-minded defender played left back in 77 career games (66 starts) at Creighton he finished his career with eight goals and 15 assists, and earned all-region twice ... his last name is pronounced sin-O-vick.

AND ON BOGGS ...
Boggs, also 23, hails from Vienna, W. Va. played collegiate soccer at West Virginia, Central Florida and South Florida he tallied 18 goals and eight assists in his career playing at forward and midfielder Boggs also helped guide South Florida to its first ever Big East Championship in 2008.

GETTING COMFORTABLE IN CAROLINA
The Revolution arrived in North Carolina last Wednesday and took advantage of three training sessions before travelling to Charlotte to defeat the Charlotte Eagles, 2-0 on Saturday the team is based in Durham, N.C. and will face Duke University and the Carolina RailHawks (USSF Div. 2) for its final two preseason games for the second year in a row, the Revs are training at the RailHawks’ WakeMed Soccer Park for the duration of the trip the scrimmage against Duke that will take place on the morning of March 17 is a closed-door scrimmage the schedule of the remaining games is as follows:


  • Wednesday, March 17 – Closed-door scrimmage vs. Duke University (WakeMed Soccer Park, N.C., 9:15 a.m.)
  • Saturday, March 20 – at Carolina RailHawks (WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary, N.C., 7 p.m.)

RECENTLY SIGNED NIOUKY JOINS REVS IN CARY

Recently-signed midfielder Joseph Niouky (pronounced joe-ZEF nyou-KEE) joined the team in North Carolina on Wednesday, March 10, after finalizing his Visa process in Senegal he arrived on Wednesday, joined team in camp on Thursday and trained on Friday, and two days after stepping foot in the U.S., he stepped into starting lineup against Charlotte Eagles on Saturday, playing 60 minutes.

REVS INVITE THREE GUESTS TO N.C.
Three guest players have also joined the team in North Carolina - Marko Perovic, Gareth Williams, and Andres Raad – who will train with the team through Thursday, March 18 - Williams and Raad trained with the team on Wednesday and Perovic joined the squad on Thursday Perovic started and played 60 strong minutes Williams came on in relief in the 75th minute and Raad subbed in during the 86th minute and played the duration.


REVS TO FACE NEW YORK/PHILLY WINNER IN OPEN CUP
As the top seed in the MLS play-in bracket for the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the Revolution will travel to play winner of the New York Red Bulls-Philadelphia Union play-in game home venues for the first round of the play-in bracket were determined by coin flip on Tuesday, March 2 the No. 1 seeded Revs lost a coin toss and will therefore play the winner of the NYRB-PHI game on the road the date, time and location of the game will be announced at a later time.

YOUTH TEAMS UPDATE

The Revs youth teams enjoyed their first home games of the 2010 season by going 3-1 on the weekend in a tough batch of weather in southeastern Massachusetts the Under-18s improved to 5-1-0 on the season and are riding a four-game winning streak on the heels of the weekend's sweep: a 1-0 victory over SC Premier (Conn.) on Saturday and another 1-0 win over Oakwood SC (Conn.) on Sunday Jonni Ventura (Westminster, Mass.) scored for the U-18s in Saturday’s win, while Gustavo Santos (Framingham, Mass.) tallied in Sunday’s shutout victory Homero Morais (Somerville, Mass.) assisted on both game-winners the Under-16s were shut out, 2-0, on Saturday against SC Premier, but rebounded with a 4-0 win over Oakwood SC on Sunday Diego Fagundez (Leominster, Mass.) opened the scoring with a penalty kick and later picked up two assists ... Felix DeBona (Everett, Mass.) tallied twice in a five-minute span - in the 42nd and 47th minutes Cole DeNormandie (Lincoln, Mass.) scored the fourth and final goal for the Revs and assisted on one other the U-16s' record is even at 3-3.
