Crew News & Notes - April 5

Crew vs. Chivas USA

On the heels of its 2-0 victory over FC Dallas last Friday, the Crew (1-1-1, 4 pts.) looks to continue its positive run as it travels to the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. for another Western-Conference matchup against Chivas USA (0-2-1, 1 pt.), this Saturday (April 9) at 10:30 p.m. (ET).

The match will be televised live regionally on ONN with Dwight Burgess and Duncan Oughton calling all the action. The game can also be heard in English on News/Talk 610 WTVN and on-line at TheCrew.com, with Neil Sika behind the microphone, and in Spanish on La Mega 103.1, with Carlos Cordova and Benny Pietrangelo on the call.

Chivas USA enters the match winless and first-year coach Robin Fraser hopes to reverse the Goats’ fortunes. Fraser – who was the 2004 MLS Defender of the Year as a member of the Crew – will rely on former Crew forward Alejandro Moreno’s firepower after Moreno gave Chivas an early lead in its 1-1 draw against Toronto on Saturday.

The Crew’s record in 12 matches against Chivas is 4-6-2 and a Black & Gold win at the Home Depot Center would be its first in six contests vs. the Goats in California. Last season, the teams split the series with a 1-0 victory at Crew Stadium for the Black & Gold (5/10) and a 3-1 win for Chivas in Carson (7/31).

With his next goal, Crew forward Jeff Cunningham will become the club's all-time leading goal scorer, a designation he currently shares with Brian McBride (62). Cunningham enters the match against his most recent former team with 132 career goals scored, which is just one behind all-time MLS leading scorer Jaime Moreno.
