This is the 52nd meeting between the New York Red Bulls and the Crew. The record for the Crew going into the match is 23-22-6 and 9-13-3 on the road. The Crew won the first ever contest between the two teams at the new Red Bull Arena in 2010.

Several Crew players reached important milestones this past weekend against Chivas USA. Chad Marshall played his 175th match, Robbie Rogers his 90th, Emmanuel Ekpo his 80th, Julius James 50th and Rich Balchan his10th.
With his next goal, Crew forward Jeff Cunningham will become the club’s all-time leading goal scorer, a designation he currently shares with Brian McBride (62). Cunningham enters the match with 132 career goals scored, which is just one behind all-time MLS leading scorer Jaime Moreno.  Cunningham currently holds the league record for game-winning-goals with 39
