Crew partners with Molina Healthcare

The Columbus Crew announced today that it has partnered with Molina Healthcare to present Crew Soccer Workshops in Columbus and Cincinnati this summer. The unique events will teach children not only soccer skills and techniques, but also sportsmanship, effective training techniques and the importance of being a team player.

The workshops will take place at Rhodes Park in Columbus (1818 W. Broad St. 43223) on Aug.  2,and at Otto Armleder Park in Cincinnati (5059 Wooster Pike 45226) on Aug. 9. Both workshops are scheduled to run from 6-8 p.m. Children aged 6-17 are invited to learn from acclaimed Crew coaches free of charge. “We are extremely pleased to work with Molina Healthcare on these innovative workshops,” said Crew President & General Manager Mark McCullers. “They provide a terrific opportunity to promote positive lifestyle choices and reach out to minority communities in the Columbus and Cincinnati areas, and Molina Healthcare is an outstanding partner in that endeavor.”

Molina Healthcare was founded by Dr. C. David Molina, an emergency room physician who realized that the health care needs of the less fortunate were not being met. In 1980, he opened a single clinic, where he cared for patients regardless of their ability to pay. Now, more than 30 years later, Molina Healthcare has grown to be one of the most experienced managed health care companies in the country, arranging for the delivery of healthcare services or offering health information management solutions for nearly 4.3 million low-income individuals and families who receive their care through Medicaid, Medicare and other government funded programs in 16 states.

“We are thrilled to be part of ‘The Crew’ this season,” said Amy Schultz Clubbs, president of Molina Healthcare of Ohio. “At Molina Healthcare, we are always encouraging our members to stay physically active, and the Columbus Crew workshops will be a great way to show kids that fitness can be fun!”
