  • Named Interim Head Coach – the sixth Head Coach in Columbus Crew history – on September 2, 2013


  • Second stint as an MLS Interim Head Coach for the 47-year-old Bliss, who was an Assistant Coach in Kansas City with the then-Wizards from 2000-2006 and took over on an interim basis from July – December 2006 and secured points in 10 of the remaining 14 matches on the 2006 campaign as boss of the Wizards


Served as an Assistant Coach on the United States Under-20 squad since January 2012, and most recently was with the club during the team’s group stage appearance at the 2013 FIFA

Under-20 World Cup in Turkey alongside frequent U-20 captain and Crew Homegrown Player Wil Trapp

  • Played a significant role in the ongoing development of the Crew Soccer Academy program and the Crew’s youth player development curriculum. In fact, he was the Head Coach of the club’s remarkable youth National Championship double in 2010, guiding both the U-19s to victory in the prestigious McGuire Cup and the U-20s to the United Soccer Leagues Super-20 League Title. His Crew Juniors U-20s won their second consecutive USL Super-20 championship in 2011.


  • Holds a U.S. Soccer Federation ‘A’ Coaching License and began his coaching career in 1999


  • As an MLS player, made 50 career appearances from 1996-1998 with the Crew, Metrostars and Wizards, scoring two goals and adding two assists as a defender


  • Was a member of the 1988 Summer Olympic Games and the 1990 U.S. FIFA World Cup team and earned 33 caps with the U.S. National Team overall, from 1984-95, tallying two goals


  • Played in the Crew’s inaugural match on April 13, 1996 and played a full 90 minutes as the Black & Gold took down eventual MLS Cup Champion D.C. United, 4-0, at Ohio Stadium in front of 25,266 fans


  • Won MLS Cup and the Supporters’ Shield in 2000 and the 2004 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with Kansas City and served as the Crew’s Technical Director during the 2008 Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup campaign; the 2009 Supporters’ Shield title; the club’s run to the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final; back-to-back semifinal appearances in the CONCACAF Champions League (2009-2010, 2010-2011) and five Trillium Cup trophies (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013)
