REACTION: Berhalter offers support to Parkhurst following U.S. National Team roster decision

Jürgen Klinsmann announced
the United States' 23-man roster
for the 2014 FIFA World Cup this afternoon, electing to leave Crew defender Michael Parkhurst off the final list.
Columbus Crew Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter offered words of support for Parkhurst upon hearing the news of today’s roster announcement.
“We’re extremely disappointed for Michael, we know what an honor it is to represent your country in a World Cup. We’re proud of the way he prepared for and approached this opportunity,” said Berhalter.
He continues, “Michael is dealing with this news exactly the way we would expect: as a complete professional, as he has been throughout his career.”




Parkhurst tweeted moments after the announcement, sending well wishes to his National Team teammates despite his own disappointment.
