Crew midfielder Daniel Paladini undergoes successful leg surgery

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew today announced that midfielder Daniel Paladini underwent successful surgery for internal fixation for a tibia and fibula fracture. Paladini is set to begin recovery immediately and is out for the remainder of the 2014 season. He will be sidelined for at least 16 weeks.

The successful procedure was performed due to an injury suffered in Tuesday’s training session. Performed by surgeon Dr. Corey L. Van Hoff, M.D. at OhioHealth’s Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus on Tuesday, September 16, Paladini is expected to be discharged today.

“It’s never easy to have a player suffer a serious injury, but we are pleased to learn that Daniel’s surgery was a success,” said Crew Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “We wish Daniel a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back as soon as possible.”

The Crew returns home for the first tilt in a two-match homestand when the club hosts the New England Revolution on Saturday, September 20 (7:30 p.m. ET / Time Warner Cable SportsChannel).
