Three Crew players earn international call-ups

Three called-up

The Columbus Crew today announced that Romain Gall, Kevan George and Waylon Francis have earned international call-ups for upcoming matches. All three players are expected to depart for international duty following the Crew’s Eastern Conference Semifinal Leg Two match against the New England Revolution on Sunday, November 9 (5:00 p.m. ET / ESPN2, ESPN Deportes). Gall is set to head to Spain with the United States Under-20 National Team, while George departs for Jamaica to represent Trinidad & Tobago’s senior roster in the 2014 Caribbean Cup. Francis, meanwhile, was named to the Costa Rica side for its upcoming friendly in Uruguay.

A frequent call-up to the U-20 National Team, Gall heads to Marbella, Spain as one of seven midfielders called-up by Head Coach Tab Ramos. The United States is set to play Russia's U-21 side, the Republic of Ireland's U-20s and Canada's U-20 National Team at the International National Teams Football Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, November 12.

George, 24, has earned eight caps for the senior Trinidad & Tobago team, including one against St. Lucia in qualifying for the 2014 Caribbean Cup on October 12. The Soca Warriors won their qualifying group and are one of eight sides now vying for the Caribbean Cup title in Jamaica. Trinidad & Tobago are part of Group A in the tournament and are set to face Curacao (November 11), French Guiana (November 13) and Cuba (November 15) in the group stage.

Francis, 24, will be looking to make his second cap for his country when Costa Rica matches-up against Uruguay for a friendly on November 13 in Montevideo. The leftback was a part of the Ticos’ squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, but did not make an appearance in the tournament.

Francis made 24 appearances (all starts) in the Regular Season for the Black & Gold in 2014, his first campaign in Columbus. He also started the Crew’s opening MLS Cup Playoffs match on November 1 against New England. Gall, meanwhile, made three appearances for the Crew in the 2014 MLS Regular Season while George made four appearances and two starts for Gregg Berhalter's side.
