Crew SC delivers Thanksgiving meals

Tuesday afternoon, Crew SC Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter, Brand Ambassador Frankie Hejduk and new signing Kei Kamara helped make some local families' Thanksgiving holidays a little more special.

Courtesy of Crew SC, the trio personally delivered a full holiday meal to some North Central Columbus families in need. Under the guidance of Miss Marie from the Tray Lee Center, Berhalter, Hejduk and Kamara delivered packages that included a turkey, two side dishes and a pie -- not to mention some brand new Columbus Crew SC scarves.

"Part of our job and something we take extremely seriously is connecting with the community," said Berhalter. "There's no better way for us to give back than being engaged. Miss Marie does a fantastic job in her community. To be able to help her out and give turkeys to some of the families is a great experience."

The afternoon meant so much more than just a simple delivery of meals. The smiles that were shared were unforgettable. In one instance, Hejduk gave away the Crew SC toque straight off of his head, a special gesture that was met with delight.

"It's Thanksgiving. It's the season of giving and of people being thankful," said Kamara. "For me, to be part of this, to really give back right now to families in this neighborhood, it's very special. They definitely appreciate it and think about who came into their door in 2014 and gave them a Thanksgiving meal."
