Columbus City League Championships


MAPFRE Stadium hosted the 2015 Columbus City League Championships Presented by the Columbus Crew SC Foundation last night.


The boys’ competition kicked off the event with the Centennial Stars taking on the Independence Sixers. The Sixers came out on top with a final score of 5-2. The girls competition featured the Centennial Stars and the Whetstone Braves, with the Braves winning 5-0.


Following both matches, an MVP from each of the winning teams was awarded with a $1,000 scholarship to be applied to higher education, courtesy of the Columbus Crew SC Foundation and Atlapac Corporation.


Emile Ndiaye of the Independence Sixers received the MVP honor for the boys and Emily Morrison was named the MVP for the girls.


The use of the facility, field and public address were provided at no cost to the schools for the competition, courtesy of the Columbus Crew SC Foundation.
