“We felt this move put Jack in the best position to secure more playing time this year in MLS while also giving us additional salary cap flexibility as we continue to build our 2016 roster,” said Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “We want to thank Jack for his services to the club during his time in Columbus and we wish him the best in Portland.”
McInerney, 23, originally came to Crew SC via trade from the Montreal Impact on August 4, 2015. He made five regular-season appearances for Columbus (two starts), scoring two goals and adding one assist. He made two additional appearances for the Black & Gold in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs.
