Columbus Crew SC today announced that it has acquired forward Adam Jahn (pronounced: JOHN) from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money. A native of Davis, California, Jahn comes to Columbus after spending the previous three seasons with San Jose.

Originally drafted by the Earthquakes in the First Round (15th overall) of the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft, Jahn has scored six goals over 62 MLS appearances (22 starts). He has also spent time on-loan with Sacramento Republic FC of the USL, helping that club win the then-USL PRO championship in 2014.

“We are pleased to welcome Adam to Columbus Crew SC as he provides valuable striker depth for our club in the second half of the season,” said Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “Adam has a strong physical presence, excellent work rate and is a threat inside the penalty box. We look forward to his arrival to Columbus and integrating him into the team.”

Jahn spent his entire rookie season in 2013 with the Earthquakes, where he made 22 appearances (11 starts). He scored four goals over his first nine professional appearances, including his first career tally in his second-ever match, on March 10, 2013 against the Red Bulls.

In 2014, he split the season between San Jose and on-loan with Sacramento, where he scored goals in his first two USL PRO appearances on April 27, 2014 against Harrisburg City and on May 4, 2014 against OC Blues FC. He made three appearances in the 2014 USL PRO Playoffs, scoring a goal against Wilmington in the quarterfinals and starting in the championship game against Harrisburg, where he played 80 minutes en route to capturing the league title.

Jahn made a career-best 26 MLS appearances in 2015 with San Jose before splitting the 2016 campaign thus far between the Earthquakes and Sacramento. He scored in his first MLS appearance this year, on April 3, 2016 versus D.C. United. Prior to joining the Earthquakes, Jahn played four seasons for the Stanford Cardinal in the NCAA, including a career-high 13-goal campaign as a senior, where he was named to the All-Pac 12 first team.

Columbus returns to action by concluding the 2016 Trillium Cup rivalry series tomorrow, Sunday, July 31 at Toronto FC (7:30 p.m. ET / The CW Columbus, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, BCSN2, CD102.5 FM, La Mega 103.1, English radio stream on ColumbusCrewSC.com).
