Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter said he wants to build his 2017 roster by returning the core of the 2016 team as a foundation. What does being a part of that core mean to you as an individual?

"I have been here for six years, going into my seventh year with the club. Nothing has changed for me except my teammates. I'm still going to give it my all for the club whenever I step inside the lines."

Having been a part of this Club during postseason and Cup runs as well as a difficult 2016 season, what can be expected in 2017?

"We can expect change for sure, but also expect changes in the results. We know we are much more talented than we showed this past season."

Entering this offseason, knowing that your option has been exercised, what preparations or goals will you look to achieve over the next few months?

"I just finished my last game with Iraq on November 15 for this calendar year and it’s been lots of long travels with short turnaround, so I need to rest the body for a bit. I'll work out from Detroit and come in January prepared to be better next year."

Federico Higuain, midfielder

On returning to Crew SC as a part of Berhalter's core ...

"Since I came to Columbus, the City has always shown me affection and, for me, that is very important. I am a person who loves this Club and I try to play my best football to make this club bigger. Being part of Columbus Crew SC is my goal."

On your expectations for 2017?

"I think it will be a very important year for everyone. Perhaps it is the last for me. We must understand that we can not repeat a season like 2016. We have to return to play good football and win."

On entering the offseason ...

"My goal is always the same. I enjoy it when our team is competitive and that's what we all have to be again."

Wil Trapp, midfielder

On returning to Crew SC as a part of Berhalter's core ...

"I’ve been with Gregg and this group for three years and the 2017 season will be need to have a core of players that know the expectations of this team and the organization. We have to improve from 2016 and I am confident that this core will be instrumental in that revival."

On your expectations for 2017?

"2017 will provide a test of what this group is made of mentally. We will come together and garner the cohesion that is vital to how we play. We want to play attacking, proactive soccer that gives us the best chance to dominate and win games."

On entering the offseason ...

"This offseason will be big for me because I want to come into 2017 flying. Between the gym, field, and film there are areas where I can improve and continue to bolster my strengths. This offseason will set the stage for a successful 2017."
