GIVE FORWARD: Crew SC, Acura & MAPFRE build a community garden

Columbus Crew SC Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter, players Adam Jahn and Niko Hansen, Acura NSX Manufacturing Large Project Leader Clement D’Souza and representatives from Crew SC Player Development worked on the construction of a community garden outside of Linden Park Neighborhood Early Childhood Education Center in partnership with Columbus City Schools and Central Ohio nonprofit Local Matters. The event is part of MLS WORKS’ Greener Goals Initiative Week of Service. The construction of the community garden is overseen in part by Crew SC’s Give Forward program, which is sponsored by MAPFRE Insurance. The community garden will serve as the site for year-round educational programming by Local Matters and other partners to inspire individuals to engage with the food they grow and understand its impact on their health. Together, Crew SC, Acura and Local Matters look for the garden to increase food security and be a catalyst for long-term neighborhood sustainability.
