CREW SC SPORTING DIRECTOR & HEAD COACH GREGG BERHALTER
On the message to the team...
"Bitterly poor performance, bitterly poor result but we have to move on. It’s one of 34 games and we can’t let this put us in a tailspin or derail our objectives. We’re not happy with the performance but we’ll move on."
On the team's effort...
"What I think happened was we got sidetracked with what our intention was. When I think about giving up two goals up a man is below standard and it’s unacceptable. I think that for the most part we fought but it was too little today."
On having one shot on goal...
"I tell you what, they played an excellent game. I think that you give their coaching staff credit. Greg Vanney for drawing up a game plan based on counter attack and absorbing pressure and they did a great job of denying shots and battling. That’s the effort you need to win games."
CREW SC DEFENDER JONATHAN MENSAH
On the difficulties vs. TFC...
"I think we didn’t show up today and we’re disappointed with this result. We need to go back and correct somethings."
On the penalty...
"The action was fast and it was the worst decision imaginable, a penalty. I gave too much and he came back into me and got a step."
On moving forward...
"Being on the road for 3 straight games is hard but we need to go back and work very hard and prepare for the next game."
CREW SC MIDFIELDER & CAPTAIN WIL TRAPP
On the team's performance...
"There’s going to be some tough conversations and some long looks in the mirror and inevitably on Wednesday the lineups going to be different. No one’s safe at this point and rightfully so as they outcompeted us in every facet of the game. The chances we had we didn’t finish and then we just gave up."
On if the 5-0 loss was a surprise...
"It’s always surprising when you lose 5-0 but that’s what quality teams can do. Luckily we can turn around and play in 4 days so it’s going to take a lot of focus and soul searching."
On returning the comfort of home next match...
"Definitely. Like I said, there’ll be a lot of fresh bodies in the lineup."
