PREVIEW: Crew SC travels to face Minnesota United for 1st-ever meeting

Columbus Crew SC will travel to Minnesota after a quick three-day turnaround from Atlanta United. Crew SC will be meeting the 23rd Major League Expansion club Minnesota United FC for the first time at TCF Bank Stadium on July 4 for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff.

The MLS newcomers currently sit in ninth place in the West with a 5-10-3 record this season. Their most recent demise was dealt by New York City FC. Despite opening the scoring first after Minnesota United leading goal scorer, Christian Ramirez, pounced on a rebound in the 9th minute, the Loons couldn’t hold off NYCFC for long and ultimately fell short 3-1.

Columbus must bounce back from a tight three-day turnaround after hosting Atlanta at MAPFRE Stadium on July 1. Crew SC went to battle with Atlanta United FC on Military Appreciation Night at MAPFRE Stadium in a match that ended 2-0 in favor of the MLS expansion-side thanks to a brace by Atlanta midfielder Hector Villalba.
