Can #CrewSC clinch with a win?

MLS will return to action this weekend after a busy midweek slate, with six different teams — Columbus, New York, Kansas City, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver — having a chance to clinch their berth in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

The Black & Gold remain at home in the push for the playoffs when they play D.C. United on Saturday, September 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Columbus closes the regular season on the road at Orlando City SC on October 15 and at New York City FC on October 22.

While plenty of teams will be battling to secure a playoff place, Toronto FC will again have a chance to clinch the Supporters' Shield with a win on Saturday against the Red Bulls or with a loss or draw combined with a variety of different results.

  • – OR –
  • Montreal Impact tie or lose vs. Colorado Rapids on Saturday and ...
  • New England Revolution tie or lose vs. Atlanta United on Saturday

Three Eastern Conference Teams have now clinched the playoffs — Toronto FC, New York City FC, and, after this week’s midweek match results, Atlanta United and Chicago Fire. D.C. United is the only Eastern Conference team that has been eliminated from playoff contention thus far.

Orlando City SC (9) vs. FC Dallas
4 p.m. ET

Orlando City SC showed signs of life after their 6-1 thrashing against the New England Revolution on Wednesday. This was the most goals the Lions have ever scored in an MLS match in their history. The huge midweek victory bumped them up a spot in the Eastern Conference rankings and increased their chances to make the playoffs to two percent.

New York Red Bulls (6) at Toronto FC (1; clinched)
at 7 p.m. ET

While Toronto FC became the first Eastern side to clinch their playoff spot, the New York Red Bulls are chasing a crucial road result in Saturday’s match. After falling to the Black & Gold 3-2 last week and coming to a 3-3 draw against D.C. United on Wednesday, the Red Bulls now have a 91 percent chance of clinching their spot in the playoffs. However, the Montreal Impact aren’t too far behind.

New England Revolution (8) vs. Atlanta United (3; clinched) at 7:30 p.m. ET

Atlanta United officially punched their ticket for the postseason with their 3-0 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday night and remain in third place in the East. Meanwhile, for New England, their postseason dreams are becoming more and more distant after the beat down they received against Orlando. However, the Revs have had better luck at home having won six of their last matches at Gillette Stadium. They’ve also outscored their opponents 15-4 over that stretch. Unfortunately for them, they only have a three percent chance of making the playoffs and will be in a fight for their postseason lives against a more relaxed Atlanta side.

Colorado Rapids vs. Montreal Impact (7)
at 9 p.m. ET

Just four points below the Red Bulls and the last spot for playoffs, the Montreal Impact are desperate for a win against the Colorado Rapids, who are eliminated from the playoffs, this weekend. After falling 1-0 to New York City FC on Wednesday, the Impact pushed their postseason dreams even farther in their rearview mirror. Montreal now has a four percent chance at spoiling the Red Bulls’ postseason plans and are in desperate need for wins in their last three regular-season matches.
