NEWS | Crew SC acquires 2019 SuperDraft pick via trade with New York City FC

Thank you Brad Stuver

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC today announced that the club has acquired a Fourth Round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft from New York City FC in exchange for goalkeeper Brad Stuver. Stuver, 26, was selected by Crew SC in the 2013 MLS Waiver Draft. The goalkeeper made two regular-season appearances (both starts) for the Black & Gold, registering eight saves and playing 180 minutes.

“We want to thank Brad for his contributions to the club and to the community during his four years with the club,” said Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “During his tenure in Columbus, Brad developed his game through excellent training habits and a thorough understanding of our style of play. We thank him for his professionalism and wish him well in his next opportunity.”

Stuver made a penalty kick stop in his MLS regular-season debut on October 16, 2016 at Red Bull Arena and earned a consecutive start when Crew SC faced NYCFC on October 23, 2016. Earlier this month, Crew SC did not exercise the option on Stuver’s contract for the 2018 campaign.

The MLS offseason continues with the MLS Re-Entry Draft Stage One occurring tomorrow, Friday, December 15 at 3 p.m. ET. Stage Two of the Re-Entry Draft takes place on Thursday, December 21 at 2 p.m. ET.
