PHILADELPHIA – Columbus Crew SC today selected University of Maryland midfielder Jake Rozhansky with the 21st pick (44th overall) in the Second Round of the 2018 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Rozhansky, 21, was chosen in the Second Round with the 21st pick (44th overall). The midfielder attended the University of Maryland from 2016-2017, where he made 40 appearances (all starts), recording seven goals and 17 assists. In 2017, he was one of three captains for the Terrapins, as well as an All-Big Ten First Team selection. Prior to his time with the Terrapins, Rozhansky attended the University of Virginia from 2014-2015, making 37 appearances (33 starts), scoring five goals and providing four assists. During his time at the University of Virginia, he was named to the Second Team All-ACC in 2015 and to the 2014 ACC All-Freshman Team.The 2017 MLS SuperDraft resumes with the Third and Fourth Rounds, conducted via conference call on on Sunday, January 21 with the Black & Gold currently holding the 21st pick (67th overall) in the Third Round, respectively.
Under Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter, the 2018 MLS Preseason begins on Wednesday, January 24, at SuperKick in Lewis Center, Ohio after entrance physicals and testing. From there, the club departs to Casa Grande, Arizona for its preseason camp on Friday, January 26. Crew SC is slated to remain in Arizona through February 6 before traveling to Honolulu, Hawaii to participate in the inaugural Pacific Rim Cup from February 6-11. Following the conclusion of the Pacific Rim Cup, the club travels to Charleston, South Carolina to participate in the 2018 Carolina Challenge Cup.
