Crew SC promotes Chris Shenberger to Head Athletic Trainer

Columbus Crew SC today announced that it has promoted Assistant Athletic Trainer Chris Shenberger to the position of Head Athletic Trainer on Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter’s First Team technical staff. Daniel Givens will fill the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer, which was left vacant by Shenberger.


Shenberger joined the Black & Gold ahead of the 2017 MLS season after spending four years at Northwestern University as the Associate Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Soccer Team. Before his tenure at Northwestern University, he was the Head Athletic Trainer for Case Western Reserve University.


Shenberger earned a master’s degree in Athletic Training from Georgia State University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Capital University. In addition to his work with Crew SC and at the collegiate level, Shenberger also has previous experience working for U.S. Soccer at the youth level.

Crew SC promotes Chris Shenberger to Head Athletic Trainer -

Givens joins Crew SC after spending three years as the Head Athletic Trainer for Pickerington Central High School. Prior to his time at Pickerington Central, he was the Head Athletic Trainer at Clark County High School in Kentucky.


Givens has previously worked in Crew SC Academy matches, as well as in club scrimmages. He has a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from California University in Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in Science in Athletic Training from Wilmington College.


Both Shenberger and Givens are in Casa Grande, Arizona with Crew SC for its 2018 preseason camp.
