The match took an early turn against the Black & Gold whenPedro Santos was shown a straight red card in the 15th minute following a video review on a tackle he was involved in.

Forced into adjustment, Crew SC Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter changed shape and personnel. In the 31st minute, bringing defender Alex Crognale on in place of Cristian Martinez. This was Crognale's first appearance since returning from being on loan at Orange County SC.

Crew SC goalkeeper Zack Steffen recorded his third shutout of the season (12th career) in his 43rd career Crew SC appearance. Crew SC defense allowed only one shot on goal throughout the game, further frustrating a low-scoring Seattle team.

On offense Crew SCā€™s chances were few and far between. The best of which came on a Milton Valenzuela shot that went over the bar. In the end, a short handed Crew SC escaped CenturyLink Field with a point and a little bit of confidence heading into the short week.

Next week Crew SC returns to MAPFRE stadium for a midweek clash with Philadelphia Union on Wednesday May 9, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
