Connor Maloney loaned to Pittsburgh Riverhounds

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC today announced that it has loaned defender Connor Maloney to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League on a game-by-game basis. Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, Crew SC retains the right to recall the player at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.


Maloney was selected with the fifth pick in the Third Round (49th overall) of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft on January 17, 2017. Since joining the Black & Gold, Maloney has made two regular-season appearances (one start) registering one assist. Before joining Crew SC, Maloney played four seasons at Penn State, making 73 appearances (all starts), scoring 26 goals and recording 17 assists during his time there. Maloney was a three-time First Team All-Big Ten Conference player (2016, 2015, 2014).


Led by Head Coach Bob Lilley, the Riverhounds take on Penn FC tomorrow, Saturday, May 26, at Highmark Stadium.


Up next for the Black & Gold is a road contest against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, May 27 at Children’s Mercy Park with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
