Steffen vs. MTL

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC today announced that goalkeeper Zack Steffen underwent successful meniscectomy on his left knee on Friday and is expected to miss this club’s match this weekend against Real Salt Lake. The procedure was performed by Dr. Pete Edwards at Orthopedic One in Columbus, Ohio.

Steffen, 23, is in his third season with Crew SC after joining the club on July 22, 2016. Since then, the goalkeeper has made 48 regular-season appearances (all starts), registering 128 saves and 16 shutouts. Steffen recently set a new club record by registering a 525-minute shutout streak in regular-season action, which lasted from April 28 – June 13, en route to winning MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS™ for the month of May. Steffen’s shutout streak is also the eighth longest regular-season shutout streak by a goalkeeper in MLS history.

Crew SC hosts Real Salt Lake at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, June 30 (7:30 p.m. ET / CW Columbus, Spectrum Sports, BCSN2, CD102.5 FM, English radio stream and Spanish audio broadcast available on ColumbusCrewSC.com).
