GYASI ZARDES SCORES 15TH GOAL OF 2018 MLS REGULAR SEASON


Forward Gyasi Zardes scored his 15th goal of the 2018 MLS regular season in Sunday’s road contest against Atlanta United FC. Zardes’ goal came in the 50th minute when he received a pass from Wil Trapp and scored from outside the penalty box. In addition to his goal, the forward had three shots (two on target) and created one goal-scoring chance. In 2018, Zardes has made 25 regular-season appearances, with three of his 15 goals being game-winning goals, the most for Crew SC this season. 


ZARDES ON THE VERGE OF TWO PERSONAL GOAL-SCORING MILESTONES


With 15 goals in 25 regular-season appearances in 2018, Gyasi Zardes is now only one goal away from equaling his single-season career-high of 16 goals. Zardes tallied 16 goals in 32 regular-season appearances (24 starts) in 2014, his second season in MLS. The forward is also only one strike away from bringing his MLS career total to 50 regular-season goals. Zardes joined MLS in 2013 and has made 156 regular-season appearances (141 starts), scoring 49 goals and providing 17 assists. 


WIL TRAPP REGISTERS FIRST ASSIST OF 2018 REGULAR SEASON


Wil Trapp provided an assist in Sunday’s road match against Atlanta United FC, his first of the 2018 regular season. His helper came in the 50th minute when he provided a pass to Gyasi Zardes, who scored from outside the box. The assist marked Trapp’s first helper since an assist on September 16, 2017 in a road contest against the Vancouver Whitecaps. In addition to his assist, Trapp also registered 67 touches, 57 passes and two tackles. In 2018, Trapp has made 21 regular-season appearances (21 starts), scoring one goal and providing one assist. Since making his MLS debut in 2013, he has made 148 MLS regular-season appearances (145 starts), registering two goals and 15 assists. 


HECTOR JIMENEZ MAKES 100TH REGULAR-SEASON APPEARANCE FOR CREW SC


With his start in Sunday’s road match against Atlanta United FC, midfielder Hector Jimenez made his 100th regular-season appearance (66th start) for Crew SC since joining the club in 2014. Jimenez played the entire 90 minutes on Sunday, getting 45 touches, making 36 passes and creating one goal-scoring chance. With his appearance, Jimenez became one of only five players on the current Crew SC roster to have made at least 100 regular-season appearances with the club, joining Justin Meram (190), Federico Higuain (171), Wil Trapp (148) and Josh Williams (107). In addition to his 100 appearances, Jimenez has also scored one goal and registered 14 assists for the Black & Gold. 


PATRICK MULLINS MAKES 100TH MLS REGULAR-SEASON APPEARANCE


Patrick Mullins made his 100th MLS regular-season apearance in Sunday’s road contest against Atlanta United FC, coming in as a substitute for Federico Higuain in the 71st minute of the match. Crew SC acquired Mullins from D.C. United in a trade on July 11, 2018. This season, he has made a total of 14 appearances (three starts), scoring one goal and providing two assists. Since joining the Black & Gold, Mullins has made four appearances (one start), scored one goal and notched one assist. Mullins made his MLS debut in 2014 and has made 54 MLS regular-season starts, tallying 24 goals and registering 10 assists. 


LALAS ABUBAKAR AND GYASI ZARDES REACH 25 REGULAR-SEASON APPEARANCES FOR CREW SC


With their start in Sunday’s road match against Atlanta United FC, defender Lalas Abubakar and forward Gyasi Zardes reached 25 regular-season appearances for Crew SC. Abubakar, 23, was drafted by the club in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, and has made 22 starts while scoring two goals since joining the Black & Gold. Zardes, 26, joined Crew SC ahead of the 2018 season and has started in each of his 25 regular-season appearances while scoring 15 goals. 


EDWARD OPOKU MAKES FIRST REGULAR-SEASON START FOR CREW SC


Edward Opoku made the first regular-season start of his MLS career in Sunday’s road contest against Atlanta United FC. In addition to his appearance, Opoku played 70 minutes, created one goal-scoring chance and made two tackles. The forward was chosen by Crew SC in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. Since joining the Black & Gold, Opoku has made four regular-season appearances (one start).
