INTERVIEW | Gregg Berhalter on Gyasi Zardes earning MLS Comeback Player of the Year

Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter sat down to discuss Gyasi Zardes winning Major League Soccer's Comeback Player of the Year and what Zardes' on- and off-field contributions have meant to Columbus Crew SC in 2018.

After suffering a season-ending injury in August of 2016 while playing for the LA Galaxy, Zardes underwent knee surgery in early 2017. The forward went on to make 24 regular-season appearances for the Galaxy that season, scoring two goals before suffering another injury in October of that year.

Zardes, 27, led Crew SC in 2018 by scoring a career-high 19 goals in regular-season action, more than any other American player in MLS, and is the first player in Club history to win the award.
