If Columbus wins Leg 2:
Columbus advances to the Eastern Conference Championship
If Columbus and New York draw in Leg 2:
Columbus advances to the Eastern Conference Championship
If Columbus loses 1-0 in Leg 2:
Two guaranteed 15-minute periods of extra time will be played. In extra time, a road-goal advantage does not continue. If the aggregate score remains tied after extra time, penalty kicks will decide who advances.
If Columbus loses 2-1 in Leg 2:
Columbus advances to the Eastern Conference Championship on the road-goals tiebreaker.
If Columbus loses by two or more goals in Leg 2:
New York Red Bulls advance to the Eastern Conference Championship.
