As a team-leader - literally and figuratively - for the U.S. Men's National Team in 2018, Columbus Crew SC midfielder Wil Trapp's standout year has the 25-year-old nominated among a five-player contingent for U.S. Soccer's Male Player of the Year.
Trapp wore the captain's band a team-leading nine times - including eight as a starter - for the Men's National Team in 2018 for the Men's National Team. Notably, the Gahanna, Ohio native was the only MNT player to be named Man of the Match twice after earning the honor in the USA’s 1-0 victory against Paraguay (March 27) and 1-1 draw with Peru (Oct. 16).
Overall, Trapp's nine appearances co-led the MNT (Bobby Wood) while his 714 minutes played led all 53 players who took the field for the Stars & Stripes in this year.
