Per an announcement from U.S. Soccer today, Columbus Crew SC Academy's Juan Castilla has been called up for the U.S. Under-15 Boys' National Team training camp at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Carson, Calif. from Jan. 29-Feb. 6.
Castilla is one of 28 players, all born in 2004, to be called to the Elite Athlete Training Center, where the Men's National Team - which featured the First Team's Zack Steffen, Wil Trapp, and Gyasi Zardes- just concluded the first portion of its annual January camp. Castilla has started in each of his 10 games played during the 2018-19 Crew SC Academy schedule, totaling one goal.
Additionally, the U-15 USBNT camp will overlap with the First Team's stay in Chula Vista, as the Black & Gold's First Team train at the Elite Athlete Training Center from Jan. 25 to Feb. 6.
Led by head coach Clint Peay, the camp is the fifth event of the 2018-19 cycle for the U-15s, who are preparing for this summer’s 2019 Concacaf U-15 Boys’ Championship. Castilla is making his first appearance with the U-15s this cycle.
