Crew contingent fall 1-0 to Mexico in Gold Cup Final

Zack Steffen earned the start in goal and Gyasi Zardescame on as a late second-half sub for the U.S. Men's National Team, but a second-half goal from the LA Galaxy's Jonathan dos Santos proved the difference in Mexico's 1-0 win over the USMNT on Sunday, July 7 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill.

Zardes substitution occurred in the 64th minute for starting striker Jozy Altidore, while Trapp remained as a substitute.


On the tournament, Steffen recorded his fifth start of the 2019 Gold Cup while Zardes appeared in all six tournament matches, and ended the competition tied with teammate Christian Pulisic for the team-lead in goals (3). Steffen upped his MNT cap total to 15 and Zardes tallied his 51 career cap, while Trapp remains at 19.


As for the Black & Gold, the Crew continue regular-season play on Saturday, July 13 at Orlando City SC for a 7:30 p.m. ET at Exploria Stadium. Columbus' next home match is scheduled for July 20 vs. the Montreal Impact at 7:30 p.m. ET at MAPFRE Stadium.
