ZARDES REACHES 50TH APPEARANCE FOR CREW SC


Gyasi Zardes made his 50th regular-season appearance – as well as his 50th regular-season start – for Crew SC in Wednesday's road match against the Chicago Fire. The forward marked the occasion by scoring in the 47th minute, when he put away a low cross from Luis Argudo. In 2019, Zardes has made 17 regular-season appearances (all starts) while registering seven goals and one assist. Since joining the Black & Gold ahead of the 2018 season, Zardes has scored 26 goals and provided one assist in regular-season action to go with his 50 appearances.


ARGUDO REGISTERS FIRST ASSIST WITH THE CREW


Luis Argudo registered his first regular-season assist for Crew SC in Wednesday's road contest against the Chicago Fire. Argudo provided the assist on Gyasi Zardes’ 47th-minute goal, as he crossed the ball to Zardes after receiving a pass from Eduardo Sosa. In 2019, Argudo has made 11 regular-season appearances (four starts) while recording one assist. Since joining the Crew, the midfielder has made 29 regular-season appearances (10 starts) and provided one helper.


SOSA TALLIES FIRST ASSIST OF 2019


Eduardo Sosa tallied a secondary assist for Crew SC in Wednesday’s match against the Chicago Fire. The helper marked Sosa’s first assist of the 2019 regular season, and came in the 47th minute of the contest, when he passed the ball to Luis Argudo, who crossed it for Gyasi Zardes to put away. The assist was also Sosa’s second assist since joining Crew SC ahead of the 2018 MLS season. In 2019, Sosa has made seven regular-season appearances (three starts), registering one assist. In all, Sosa has made 17 regular-season appearances (six starts) and scored one goal to go with his one assist for the Black & Gold.


ROMARIO WILLIAMS MAKES CREW DEBUT, SCORES GOAL


Romario Williams made his Crew SC regular-season debut during Wednesday's contest against the Chicago Fire, tallying an equalizer to help the Crew rescue a point against the Fire. Williams’ goal came in the 90th minute, when he headed in a cross from Luis Diaz. The forward came in as a substitute for Ricardo Clark in the 79th minute of the contest. Prior to joining Crew SC on July 1, 2019, Williams played for Atlanta United from 2018-2019. In all, Williams has made 22 appearances in regular-season action since joining MLS in 2015, scoring two goals.


DIAZ MAKES CREW SC DEBUT, TALLIES FIRST ASSIST


Midfielder Luis Diaz made his MLS and Crew SC regular-season debut during Wednesday's road match against the Chicago Fire. The Costa Rican played 35 minutes and marked the occasion by tallying his first assist for the Crew, as he crossed the ball to Romario Williams in the 90th minute, allowing Williams to equalize with a header. Prior to joining Crew SC on July 2, 2019, Diaz played for Club Sport Herediano of Costa Rica’s First Division from 2016-2018. Notably, he was named the Best Under-21 Player in the Torneo Clausura 2019 by UNAFUT.


FRANCIS NEARING 100TH APPEARANCE WITH THE CREW


Waylon Francis is nearing a personal milestone with Crew SC. With his next appearance for the Black & Gold, Francis will have reached 100 regular-season appearances for the Club. The Costa Rican defender originally joined the Club ahead of the 2014 MLS season. After spending the 2018 season with Seattle Sounders FC, Francis re-joined the Crew on February 5, 2019 . To date, Francis has made 90 starts for Crew SC during his two stints with the Club, registering 18 assists. Notably, Francis was named to the 2015 MLS All-Star Roster.


ARTUR NEARING 75TH APPEARANCE WITH CREW SC


Midfielder Artur is on the verge of making his 75th regular-season appearance for Crew SC. The Brazilian midfielder joined the Club on loan from Brazilian First Division side Sao Paulo ahead of the 2017 MLS season. Artur then joined the Crew on a full transfer on. To date, Artur has made 67 starts while providing five assists for Crew SC in regular-season action.


THREE CREW SC ACADEMY PRODUCTS START FOR THE BLACK & GOLD


Wednesday’s road contest against the Chicago Fire saw three Crew SC Academy products start for the Crew SC First Team. The Black & Gold’s lineup featured midfielder Wil Trapp along with centerbacks Alex Crognale and Aboubacar Keita. Trapp, 26, was signed by Crew SC on December 13, 2012 and was named Captain of the Crew ahead of the 2017 MLS season. To date he has 174 regular-season appearances (170 starts) while scoring two goals and providing 16 assists. Crognale, 24, joined the Black & Gold on December 20, 2016. Since then, the defender has made 27 regular-season appearances (16 starts) and registered one goal and one assist. Keita, 19, signed with the Crew on January 22, 2019. Currently in his rookie season, he has made three regular-season appearances (two starts).


CREW SC ACQUIRES ALLOCATION MONEY IN TRADE WITH THE SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES


Crew SC announced on Thursday that it had acquired $110,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for the 2020 Major League Soccer season from the San Jose Earthquakes. In exchange, the Black & Gold traded $150,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) for the 2019 MLS season.
