Following Columbus Crew SC's 1-1 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes on August 3, the Special Olympics Ohio team played in a Unified Match at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif.
The goal of the Unified Exchange program is to provide excellent life experiences that they might not otherwise engage in, and Saturday's exhibition was the second of two matches Special Olympics Ohio played in during the 2019 season. As part of the program, Crew SC facilitated experiences such as a jersey unveiling, a professional photoshoot, flights and hotel accommodation alongside the First Team, recreational activities, and matchday recognition. Additionally, Special Olympics Ohio will be outfitted in authentic uniforms provided by adidas.
