OPENING WEEKEND | Recapping Crew SC Academy's first MLS NEXT matches

The Crew SC Academy opened its MLS NEXT season this past weekend against Michigan Wolves, with the U-19 and U-17 teams headlining the action after respective 4-1 and 3-2 wins on Saturday.

Following the Academy's official "Signing Day" on Thursday, Sept. 10, the official rosters were released on Saturday morning to start the weekend.

The U-19s kicked off from the Crew SC Training Facility at Obetz and featured a trio of standout performances from Aidan Wolf, Anthony Samways, and Anthony Hernandez.

Following the U-14's shutout loss at Otterbein University Memorial Stadium, the U-15's took to the field next but could not overcome a 3-1 halftime deficit as they eventually fell 4-1.

Closing out the day's competitions were the U-17's, who were led by solid performances from debutants Lucas Rizzo, Quentin Flowers, and Levi Stephens. Tied at 2-2 in the 60th minute, the Black & Gold went on to convert a penalty in the final moments of regulation to win 3-2.
