Assistant Coach: Pablo Moreira
Pablo Moreira (pronounced: MO-ray-rah) returns for his third season as Assistant Coach for the reigning 2020 MLS Cup Champions Columbus Crew SC.
Prior to joining Crew SC Moreira previously worked alongside Caleb Porter at the Portland Timbers as well as at The University of Akron.
Moreira joined the Timbers Technical Staff as a Video Analyst in 2013 before taking on dual roles of Assistant Coach and Video Analyst from 2014-2017. Moreira helped lead the Portland Timbers to their first ever MLS Cup Championship in 2015, Western Conference Championship in 2015, CONCACAF Champions League appearances in 2014 & 2016, Western Conference Regular Season 1st Place finishes in 2013 & 2017 and Cascadia Cup in 2017.
Collegiately, Moreira served as a Video Analyst at the University of Akron from 2011-2012. During his two seasons with the Zips, Moreira won the Mid-American Conference Regular-Season title in both 2011 and 2012 in addition to the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship in 2012.
Moreira played as a forward for the Akron Zips from 2003-2007. During his career with the Zips, he earned All-Mid-American Conference honors in 2006 and 2007 playing under Caleb Porter, in addition to winning three Mid-American Conference Regular-Season (2005, 2006, 2007) and Tournament (2004, 2005, 2007) Championships.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Moreira is the son of former Uruguayan International Jose “Chico” Moreira, who in 1980 with club side Nacional went on to capture the South American Treble winning the Club World Cup, Copa Libertadores and League title in addition to winning the 1980 Mundialito (Copa de Oro) with Uruguay.
Moreira, the Brecksville, Ohio native earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Business with a Minor in Spanish from the University of Akron.
