Assistant Coach: Pablo Moreira
Pablo Moreira (pronounced: MO-ray-rah) is in his second season as Assistant Coach for Columbus Crew SC. Moreira previously worked alongside Caleb Porter at the Portland Timbers as well as at the University of Akron.
Prior to joining Crew SC, Moreira worked for the Portland Timbers from 2013-2017, first joining the Technical Staff as a Video Analyst before taking on the role of Assistant Coach in 2014. While working for Portland, Moreira helped lead the club to an MLS Cup (2015), CONCACAF Champions League (2014,2016), 1st Place in Western Conference Regular Season (2013,2017) and Cascadia Cup (2017).
Moreira served as a Video Analyst at the University of Akron from 2011-2013
A Cleveland, Ohio native, Moreira played as a forward for the Akron Zips from 2003-2007, making 65 appearances (40 starts). During his time there, Moreira played two seasons under Caleb Porter (2006, 2007) and earned All-Mid-American Conference honors (2006, 2007). Moreira also helped the Zips win back-to-back-to-back regular-season conference championships (2005, 2006, 2007) and three conference tournament titles (2004, 2005, 2007). In 2007, Moreira earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Business with a Minor in Spanish from the University of Akron.
Moreira is the son of former Uruguay International Jose “Chico” Moreira, who played for Uruguayan side Danubio and Nacional. In 1980 while with Nacional, Moreira went on to win the Club World Cup, Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Uruguayo for his club side and the 1980 Mundialito (Copa de Oro) for his nation.
