Thrust into his MLS debut at halftime of Saturday night's match against the New England Revolution to replace an injured Andy Gruenebaum, rookie goalkeeper Matt Lampson helped the Crew secure three crucial points in the team desperately needed to stay in the Eastern Conference playoff hunt. The Homegrown 'keeper fended off a late Revolution flurry of shots to keep the scoreline at 4-3. Here is Lampson's humble take on the action:
"That's what the goalkeeper is supposed to do and I was happy I got the chance. I thought I dealt with [the shots] pretty well. One of them I saw late, the other one I was able to get down in time. Luckily, we held together as a defense and finished out strong. It was a little hectic, but that comes with the territory in an MLS game. We need those three points really bad, so I'm glad as a team we pulled through."
