To celebrate 2013 Goal of the Year voting, Crew players and staff reflect on the nominated strikes.
March 3 at Chivas USA - Higuaín opens Crew's 2013 account with laser past Kennedy
Tyson Wahl: “A great shot by Pipa. He makes good contact with the ball, hits it, and celebrates with the right person [gesturing to himself].”
Dominic Oduro: “That was my first game with the team. In the first half we were trying to get some goals and it didn’t happen. Second half, Pipa had the ball and you know that guy is good at working balls in and he just whipped it under the crossbar. I was really cheezin’ and smiling after that because I thought it was a really well-deserved goal.”
March 16 vs. San Jose Earthquakes - Gláuber nets first MLS tally with falling header
Josh Williams: “With a guy like Glauber who is 6’4”, a guy like Chad Marshall who is 6’4”, Bernardo, and I that is four legitimate threats to the goal. It is just a matter of us finding space. I think sometimes we just get too bunched and we are easy to mark, but if you get four of us making the right runs like in the goal that Glauber scored he found space and put the ball on target.
“With a guy like Pipa out there and the service he provides, it is our job to find space and Glauber made a good run and put the ball in goal and it ended up being a really nice goal.”
