At the EAS Training Center at Obetz, Crew SC Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter today confirmed to reporters that the Black & Gold are loaning forward Adam Bedell to the Austin Aztex, Crew SC's USL affiliate. Crew SC retains the option to recall Bedell at any point while on loan.
"We're happy to utilize this relationship with the Aztex to both give our players valuable game time and to compete at a high level," said Berhalter. "Adam is going there to make an impact. Under the guidance of [Aztex Head Coach] Paul Dalglish, who is known for working with strikers, we feel like he is in good hands. This experience will help position him to compete for a place in the first team."
Originally selected in the Third Round (45th overall) of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, Bedell made 16 appearances for Columbus last season, scoring two goals. He also scored the opening goal in the club's international friendly against Barclays Premier League side Crystal Palace FC on July 23.
Crew SC returns to the pitch tomorrow when it takes on fellow Eastern Conference foe D.C. United (7:00 p.m. ET / Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, CD102.5, 103.1 La Mega).
