Crew SC and all United States-based clubs in Major League Soccer are set to enter the 102nd edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the Fourth Round of the competition, with matches to be played on either June 16 or June 17. On May 21, the day following the Second Round tilts, U.S. Soccer is slated to determine the Fourth Round bracket as well as the location of the matches played at this stage. Should Crew SC be chosen to host its contest, the game would be held at the University of Akron’s FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field, with ticketing information to be announced at a later date.
The Black & Gold held their Fourth Round match at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field last season, defeating the North American Soccer League’s Indy Eleven by a 2-1 score after extra time. In 2002, Columbus was crowned Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champion, as the club defeated the LA Galaxy 1-0 at MAPFRE Stadium to earn its first-ever tournament title.
