Black & Gold return to Columbus feeling recharged

The Black & Gold had a much-deserved break after a solid start to the regular season. Crew SC players went on vacation; saw their families and some were on international duty for their home countries.
Midfielder Emil Larsen spent his break from League play with the Denmark Under-23 National Team. Despite not having time away from the field, Larsen says he gained a lot from his time with Denmark, getting several minutes in and even earning a hat trick in his country’s 6-2 win against Nigeria.
“I scored some goals. I scored a hat trick in one game, so I got some confidence that I can bring to this team,” he said. “We have to win some games in the League and I can use that for the next couple of games. Just playing some good football, some good soccer. “

Midfielder Rodrigo Saravia also spent his break representing his country when he took a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he played the full 90 minutes for Guatemala in its match against Venezuela that resulted in a 1-1 draw.
After the match in Florida, Saravia had the chance to go home to Guatemala for a few days to visit his family.
“I spent time with family for a couple of days,” Saravia said. “ It was great to see my cousins, uncles and aunts. We did a big event because I was coming home. It was really fun.”
Although Saravia was away from the field for a few days, he said his family had some competitions of their own.

“We did some Olympic games, where we compete,” he said. “ We do teams and compete between each other.  We do rope games and water games, stuff like that.”
Fun, relaxation and a little bit of friendly competition is just what the Black & Gold needed in order to get ready for the second third of the season.
“It’s nice to see my family and to get out of the soccer world,” Saravia said. “I’m recharged.”
