Crew SC loans shine for Riverhounds

Five Columbus Crew SC players joined the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on a game-to-game basis — most recently including goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who finished with six saves in his debut â€” for Saturday's fixture in USL play. The Riverhounds â€” Crew SC's USL affiliate â€” defeated Bethlehem Steel FC, 2-1, at Highmark Stadium.

Goals from Corey Hertzog (18th) and Kevin Kerr (62nd) propelled the Riverhounds to three points from the match, and the end of a two-match losing skid.

Midfielders Marshall Hollingsworth, Cristian Martinez, and Rodrigo Saravia all saw time on the pitch for Pittsburgh in the victory, playing 33, 45, and 27 minutes, respectively. Steffen—meanwhile—played the full 90 minutes for the Riverhounds in goal, recording the win and six saves on nine Bethlehem shots.

Pittsburgh will now travel to New York this Saturday for a matchup with the Rochester Rhinos in a clash of Eastern Conference foes. Kickoff from Rhino Stadium is set for 6:05 p.m.
