Number 14s

Columbus Crew SC selects 14th overall in Thursday's 2015 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas. Before Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter and his staff take the draft floor in Philadelphia, here is a look back at some notable past selections with the 14th pick.

2002 - Shalrie Joseph, New England | Career stats: 283 app, 40 G, 35 A

Drafted out of St. John's University, the Grenada-born midfielder was the centerpiece of the Revs' back-to-back-to-back MLS Cup appearances from 2005-07. Joseph has earned a spot on four MLS Best XI lists and seven All-Star teams during his career.

2004 - Ned Grabavoy, LA | Career stats: 253 app, 15 G, 28 A

Recently picked up by NYCFC in the MLS Expansion Draft, the Indiana University product was drafted by LA 14th overall in 2004 before playing for Columbus, San Jose and Real Salt Lake. The industrious winger was key in RSL's diamond midfield, helping the Claret and Cobalt capture MLS Cup in 2009.

2009 - George John, Dallas | Career stats: 119 app, 6 G, 1 A

Making the switch from defensive midfielder to centerback as a pro, the University of Washington alum anchored the FC Dallas backline to MLS Cup in 2010. John was hampered by injuries in 2014, but is considered one of the top central defenders in MLS when healthy. The 6-foot-3 defender was also selected by NYCFC in the MLS Expansion Draft.
