Obinwa allows social media glimpses into his journey

Wednesday saw Columbus Crew SC continue Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter's roster engineering with the permanent transfer of Cristian Martinez and the addition of U.S. Youth international Abuchi Obinwa.

Obinwa, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, is Columbus-born and Orlando-bred. With time spent with German side Hannover 96 in the Under-19 Bundesliga North/Northeast and the U.S. Youth National Team at the U-18 and U-20 levels, Obinwa has taken followers along on his journey on Twitter.

Whether you call it some keepie uppie or just "sauce," the flashy footwork by the young Obinwa is impossible to watch just once.

This. Just this. Can't wait to see you here in Columbus, Abuchi. May we recommend Give Forward?

We've all been there.

This has to be a favorite. Tweeted just a week ago, this is an ideal mindset to carry into a 2-week camp in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Throughout his young career, Obinwa has vocalized his clear-cut goals and intentions right before striving to achieve them. As evidence, U.S. Soccer provided this sit-down interview with a then-16-year-old Obinwa. He discusses his ambitions as a leader, a developing player and a budding professional.

All this coming right before he was named the 2013 U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s U-15/16 Central Conference Player of the Year.

All that's left to do now is to add the lovable #CrewSC hashtag to the next posts.
