COLUMBUS – Major League Soccer today announced that the venue for Crew SC's road contest against New York City FC on Sunday, October 22 has been changed and it will now take place at Citi Field in Queens, home of the New York Mets.
Kickoff time has not been changed and the match is still set to start at 4 p.m. ET.
The change of venue has become necessary due to the New York Yankees advancing to the American League Championship Series as part of the 2017 MLB Playoffs. Due to additional preparations during the MLB Playoffs, there is insufficient time to convert Yankee Stadium should the Yankees progress beyond the ALCS to the World Series.
Broadcast details for this match remain unchanged, with the match being available via The CW Columbus, Spectrum Sports, BCSN2, CD102.5 FM and La Mega 103.1 FM, with the English radio stream also available on ColumbusCrewSC.com. The Spanish radio calls are also set to be streamed in Spanish on the LaMega1 App and via Tunein Radio as WVKO-FM.
Columbus has already officially clinched a spot in the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs, returning to the postseason for the third time in four seasons under Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter.
With two regular-season contests remaining, Crew SC is assured of finishing no lower than sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Final postseason seeding will be determined in the coming weeks as the Black & Gold (15-12-5, 50 points) conclude the regular season at Orlando City on October 15 before the season finale at NYCFC.
