Youness Mokhtar - 8.10.19 - FC Cincinnati

CREW SC UNDEFEATED IN LAST FIVE MATCHES

With its 2-2 draw against FC Cincinnati on Saturday, Crew SC extended its undefeated streak to five consecutive matches in regular-season action dating back to a 2-2 draw on the road against the Chicago Fire (July 17). Over that span, the Black & Gold have posted a record of 2-0-3. In addition to the aforementioned results, the Crew has also registered wins against the Montreal Impact (July 20) and the New York Red Bulls (July 27), while also drawing against the San Jose Earthquakes (August 3).

SANTOS SETS PERSONAL SINGLE-SEASON HIGH

Pedro Santos’ goal against FC Cincinnati on Saturday was his eighth goal of the 2019 MLS regular season, setting a new single-season career-high for the midfielder in League play. Previously, Santos’ largest goal-scoring output was seven tallies, which he scored during the 2015-2016 Liga NOS campaign. In 2019, Santos has made 25 regular-season appearances (23 starts), while providing three assists (three game-winning assists) to go with his eight goals (two game-winning goals).

ZARDES SCORES NINTH GOAL OF 2019

Forward Gyasi Zardes scored his ninth goal of the 2019 regular season during Saturday’s home contest against FC Cincinnati. The goal came in the 45th minute, when Zardes converted a penalty kick attempt following a foul inside FC Cincy’s box. The goal was Zardes’ second tally in as many matches, as he had previously scored in the previous week’s road match against the San Jose Earthquakes (August 3). Zardes finished the night with seven shots (four on target) and created one goal-scoring chance. Notably, Zardes has scored on both of his penalty kick attempts in 2019, having previously converted a penalty kick during a home contest against New York City FC (June 1).

YOUNESS MOKHTAR MAKES CREW SC DEBUT

Midfielder Youness Mokhtar made his MLS and Crew SC debut in Saturday’s contest against FC Cincinnati. Mokhtar came into the match as a substitute for Luis Diaz in the 53rd minute. In his 36 minutes of action, Mokhtar registered two shots and created three goal-scoring chances. The midfielder joined the Crew from Stabaek of the Norwegian First Division on July 19 of this year. Prior to joining the Black & Gold, Mokhtar made 170 First Division appearances across the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, while scoring 28 goals and providing 31 assists.

CREW SC ON THE VERGE OF NEARING MILESTONE IN REGULAR-SEASON HOME MATCHES

Crew SC is on the verge of reaching a milestone in regular-season home victories. The Black & Gold currently have 199 regular-season home wins. With its next regular-season victory at home, the Crew would become one of only six MLS clubs to have won 200 or more regular-season matches at home dating back to the 1996 season.
