COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC today announced that the Club’s pre-season schedule is set to also include five closed-door friendlies. Crew SC is set to face USL League Two side Ventura County Fusion as well as fellow MLS sides Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Orlando City SC, the San Jose Earthquakes and Sporting Kansas City.
During the first pre-season camp in Chula Vista, California, the Black & Gold face Ventura County Fusion on Friday, January 24 before taking on Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Tuesday, January 28, with both matches taking place in San Diego, California. As the Crew’s pre-season heads to Mexico for the second leg of pre-season, Crew SC is then slated to play against Orlando City SC on Saturday, February 1 and against the San Jose Earthquakes on Monday, February 3, with both of the matches taking place in Cancun. Crew SC will then face Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, February 12 in Tucson, Arizona.
In addition to these five matches, the Crew is also slated to participate in the 2020 Visit Tucson Sun Cup. As part of the tournament, Crew SC is set to face USL side Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, February 15; the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday, February 19; and the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, February 22.
The Black & Gold begin the 2020 MLS regular season at MAPFRE Stadium against New York City FC, on Sunday, March 1 at 12:30 p.m. ET.
